KO-loving Ant should face Frank
ANTHONY YARDE is ready to challenge Frank Buglioni for the British light-heavyweight title.
And Buglioni has gone on record as saying he wants to take on his fellow Londoner.
So I don’t know why the British Boxing Board of
Control have ordered Yarde to fight a final eliminator against Hosea Burton.
Meanwhile, defending champion Buglioni has been ordered to put his belt on the line against Callum Johnson.
But the fight the fans want to see is knockoutloving Yarde go up against world title challenger Buglioni.
That would be a
cracking all-London affair that would have a big buzz around it.
I plan to speak to the Board this week to see if we can get anything done about it.
Exciting
Yarde put in another stunning display to stop Richard Baranyi in one round and claim the WBO European title.
The achievement catapulted him into the top 10 in the world rankings and was further proof of his potential.
But now he is supposed to face Burton, who lost to Buglioni last year.
I believe that would be a Interview by CHRIS McKENNA step back rather than a step forward. The heavy-handed hitter from Hackney is one of the most exciting talents in British boxing and we need to keep him moving forward. I don’t want to slow down his progression, so I believe he should face Buglioni and take that next step. Last week also saw Daniel Dubois look magnificent as he made light work of Mauricio Barragan. The teenage heavyweight sensation dealt with his man inside two rounds and will be in action again soon. But another youngster to keep an eye on is super-featherweight Ryan Garner, who moved to 6-0 with a devastating first-round stoppage of Tamas Laska. And the shows keep on coming as we will announce Billy Joe Saunders’ opponent on Monday for the defence of his WBO middleweight title on September 16.
