JOSE’S BIG MO STAKE
Klopp jibe over rival’s rejects
JURGEN KLOPP has taunted Jose Mourinho by claiming Mohamed Salah is yet another superstar he has let slip through his fingers.
Liverpool splashed out a club record £39m to sign Chelsea reject Salah from Roma.
And Klopp (right) believes the winger will be a big hit just like Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne, who was also axed by Mourinho at Stamford Bridge. The Kop boss said: “A lot of
players have shown it is easy to struggle at Chelsea, De Bruyne (right) is one.”
Now boss at Manchester United, Mourinho has just found out the true cost of failing to spot a player’s full potential after being forced to strike a deal that could rise to £100m for Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgium striker is another player Mourinho largely overlooked while at Stamford Bridge, with a series of loan spells before a permanent move to Everton.
Mourinho handed Salah just six starts in the Premier League before shipping him out on loan to Fiorentina and Roma.
Asked what he had seen in Salah to convince him to open the cheque book, Klopp replied: “The question is, ‘What did we not see in him?’.
“He is involved in everything.”
Meanwhile, RB Leipzig boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has told Liverpool that Naby Keita, 22, is “comfortable” at the club as the Reds prepare another bid for the midfielder.
