Holder in axe threat

- ■ by PETER OAKES

CHRIS HOLDER’S season is hanging by a thread.

The 2012 world speedway champion began a 28-day ban on Monday and will miss King’s Lynn’s next 10 Premiership matches.

It has left Lynn owner Buster Chapman weighing up his options.

He is mulling over whether to bring in a replacement before this month’s transfer deadline.

If he does, that could rule Holder out for the rest of the year as he wouldn’t be able to move to another top-flight club until next season.

Holder, 29, will be available for only the Stars’ last four matches of the campaign unless they finish in the top four and qualify for the title play-offs.

Shock

The Aussie, who is on a year’s loan at the Adrian Flux Arena, has been hit by the ban after refusing to go out for two races in the Stars’ shock home defeat against parent club Poole last Thursday.

He had a furious bust-up with an angry Chapman, insisting that the track was too dangerous.

Boss Chapman refused to comment on Holder’s future but said: “I will personally ensure the scenes of last Thursday will never, ever be repeated.”

■ WOLVERHAMPTON star Kyle Howarth is back home after escaping serious injury.

He was rushed to hospital after a horror crash on Monday night.

Wolves boss Chris Van Straaten said: “Nothing is broken, which is a miracle in itself.”
