LOANDON CALLING FOR HART
WEST HAM have finally signed Joe Hart on loan – and they expect to complete a £38m hat-trick of new signings this week. Hart said: “I’m really looking forward to the season. I’ve always loved the club.” The Hammers are paying a fee of around £2m for the England goalkeeper, who completed his season-long loan move from Manchester City yesterday. They also made a major breakthrough in their pursuit of Marko Arnautovic, with Stoke accepting a club record £23m bid. The Potters had rejected offers of £15m and then £20m for the 28-year-old forward, but he is now likely to be a Hammer by the weekend. He has already agreed personal terms and his medical is expected to be a formality despite a recent knee injury. West
Ham insiders are also confident a £13m deal for Bayer Leverkusen striker Javier Hernandez will be completed this week.
With Pablo Zabaleta signed from City on a free transfer, boss Slaven Bilic feels these four transfers will plug the biggest holes in his squad.
For Hart, it is a chance to put himself back in the limelight in a World Cup year. West Ham have an option to make the deal permanent next summer and City are part-funding the 30-year-old’s £175,000-aweek wages.
Hart, who spent last season on loan at Torino, said: “It’s important to play and to get the opportunity to come here is awesome.”
Hart, who cannot play against City next season under the terms of his loan, could face his parent club in a pre-season match in Iceland on August 4.
He said: “It’ll be fun to play against them. I’ll never change how I feel about that club.”
