8 die in migrant furnace
EIGHT people believed to be illegal migrants have been found dead inside a lorry’s sweltering trailer.
Another 30 people, many suffering from heat stoke and exhaustion, were with the bodies.
The trailer had been parked behind a Walmart store in San Antonio, Texas.
The lorry’s driver was arrested and will be charged.
US Attorney Richard Durbin said the heat in southern Texas is “punishing” at this time of year.
He added: “These people were helpless in the hands of their transporters. Imagine their suffering.”
The origin of the truck is unclear.
