War ace fly-past
A WORLD War Two fighter ace was honoured yesterday with a bomber fly-past and a blue plaque at his birthplace – now the site of a German-owned supermarket.
James Harry “Ginger” Lacey, who died in 1989, shot down 28 enemy planes, including one which bombed Buckingham Palace.
A plaque has been installed where his home once stood, now an Aldi in Wetherby, West Yorks.
