CLAIMS CHEAT’S JOB AS BINMAN

- By JERRY LAWTON

A BENEFITS fraudster who claimed it took him 15 minutes to walk two yards was found working as a binman.

George Beacham accepted £45,000 in disability living allowance after insisting he needed help getting out of bed and had to use a walking stick.

But investigators filmed him lifting, carrying and emptying bin bags for Lancaster City Council.

He was earning £18,000 a ® year on top of his £57.45-aweek state handouts.

Beacham, 68, from Morecambe Bay, Lancs, insisted he was diabetic but admitted failing to notify the Department for Work and Pensions of a change in his circumstances.

He was given a 54-week suspended jail sentence and ordered to pay £300 costs and a £140 surcharge at Preston Crown Court.
