WHAT’S HOT TO WATCH TODAY
GIVEN what we all know now about the amount of money floating around in Tellyland, I reckon fifty grand’s a pretty ropey prize for winning LOVE ISLAND:
THE LIVE FINAL (9pm, ITV2). After all, these guys have kept millions of us entertained, night after night, for weeks on end. They’ve put their hearts into it, they’ve bared their souls, along with a number of other significant body parts. It’s been an absolute labour of lust.
Still, I suppose fifty grand’s still better than a knee in the nuts, as host Caroline Flack will no doubt remind them. And for our winning pair, of course, there’ll be loads of future telly opportunities coming their way, including some where they may even get to wear clothes. Who knows, they may become the new Phil and Holly. It’s just a thought. I DON’T know if you’ve noticed this, but some species of animal make better pets than others. My dog, for example, always gets loads of cuddles and pats when I take her down my local pub, whereas I’m not sure I’d be so popular if I were to turn up with, say, a buffalo.
And yet a buffalo really does walk into a bar tonight in a mad one-off documentary on Channel 4. We also hear about a Russian brown bear who’s become kind of domesticated – hence this
show’s title, BEAR ABOUT THE HOUSE: LIVING WITH MY SUPERSIZED PET (8pm) – and a crocodile that hangs out at a family home in Melbourne. ELSEWHERE tonight an ITV special, DIANA, OUR MOTHER: HER LIFE AND LEGACY (9pm) finds Wills and Harry paying tribute to their mum, who died 20 years ago next month.
