A MUM at my daughter’s school has attached herself to me. She keeps inviting me out for coffees, which I am happy to do.

But her spoilt daughter is vile to my own girl. My daughter has now announced that she never wants to be in the same room as this bullying pain again. This is so awkward, as they live nearby and we constantly bump into each other at the shops. What on earth can I say to the mother?

JANE SAYS: It’s vital that you put your own daughter’s happiness first. The last thing she needs is to have any crisis of confidence and self-doubt compounded.

Always have a prior engagement or excuse ready on the tip of your tongue, and maybe your neighbour will get the message. However, if she keeps on, then maybe you’ll just have to look her in the eye and tell her the truth.
