Spieth goes from gory to glory

OPEN champion Jordan Spieth admitted he thought he had blown his chance of glory.

The American is now on the verge of joining the golfing gods after an epic threeshot win at Royal Birkdale yesterday.

The 23-year-old saw off fellow Yank Matt Kuchar but, boy, was he made to sweat.

He’s now just one step off joining the greats of the game who have sealed a career Grand Slam of all four majors.

It all looked like going horribly wrong for him when he threw away a three-shot overnight lead and then trailed Kuchar by a shot with five holes to play.
