ENGLAND’S top clubs have begged players to stop “live blogging” their holidays to avoid tipping off criminals when they are not home.

Footballers – such as Dele Alli, Wayne Rooney and Paul Pogba – have shown off their trips to exotic locations such as China, the Caribbean and America this summer.

But their foreign exploits also alert criminals that their homes are empty.

Yesterday four men were jailed for a total of 27 years and 11 months for carrying out seven burglaries.

Ransacked

The break-ins included a £400,000 raid on Aston Villa defender John Terry’s home after the former Chelsea captain put pictures of his ski holiday with his wife Toni on Instagram.

Now concerned club bosses have ordered their stars to stop posting their every movement online.

An insider at a top Premier League side said: “We are having to tell our players to tone down their social media posts. We know several of our players have excellent relationships with their Instagram followers but it’s becoming dangerous.

“We have seen numerous examples of players’ homes being ransacked when they are away, either on holiday during pre-season or on club and international duty. The last thing we need is to alert thieves when houses are at risk.”

The social media blackfollows a string of attacks on players’ homes in the last few years on stars such as Steven Gerrard, Thierry Henry and Dirk Kuyt.

Each time the star had been playing with their clubs abroad when the thieves pounced.

The new warning comes after four men were jailed yesterday for ransacking Terry’s £5million home.

Darren Eastaugh, 30, Joshua Sumer, 27, Roy Head, 28, and Oliver Hart, 25, all admitted conspiracy to commit burglary.

Kye Hardy-King, 25, also admitted handling stolen goods and got a year in jail, suspended for two years.

Their haul included jewellery worth £219,300 and a £42,000 handbag.

Judge Susan Tapping told Kingston Crown Court: “It might have been a mistake to post a family photograph on social media to show he was away on holiday.

“As a result his home was deliberately targeted.”
