Warr path leading to world title

- Interview by CHRIS McKENNA

CARL FRAMPTON returns to action tonight and I don’t expect him to have any problems against Andres Gutierrez.

The Belfast boy is desperate to get back to world level, in an exciting division, after his close defeat by Leo Santa Cruz in January.

Of course he wants to get back in amongst the action for the big pay cheques that come with it, but there is plenty of talent in the division and I’m planning on putting our featherweight star Josh Warrington in a big fight next.

We are looking to do a deal for the Leeds man to face the unbeaten Joseph Diaz in an eliminator for the WBC title.

However, with WBC champion Gary Russell Jnr being so inactive that could end up being a fight for the full title if he gets stripped.

We want it in Leeds and of course the American’s team want it on the other side of the Atlantic, but we will do our best to do a deal.

Warrington is ready to be stepped up now and has the ability to mix it with Frampton, Santa Cruz and IBF champion Lee Selby.

We have made a great offer to Eddie Hearn for Irishman Ryan Burnett to face WBO champion Zolani Tete.

Hearn is close to announcing a unification fight with WBA champion Zhanat Zhakiyanov but our offer is better.

We would pay for Tete’s purse, meaning Hearn could double Burnett’s pay packet without spending a penny extra.

Tyson Fury has been creating more headlines this week with his latest claims of retirement.

But the former heavyweight world champion is battling depression and his mood is all over the place.

His depression isn’t helped by the drawn-out saga surrounding his drugs case.

Fury is being dragged through the mill when it should have been sorted, one way or another, by UK Anti-Doping months ago, allowing him to get on with his life and

career.
