TELLY chiefs have vowed to air Princess Diana’s explosive tell-all video tapes despite a mounting backlash.

Channel 4 will show the private recordings in a documentary revealing intimate details of her sex life and marriage to Prince Charles.

Princess Di’s brother Earl Spencer is said to have told the channel’s bosses that screening the videos, shot during 1992 and 1993, would cause “deep distress” to her sons. One of Diana’s closest friends, Rosa Monckton, said: “How intrusive is this? It doesn’t matter that it was 20-odd years ago.

“The tapes should have been sent to the boys. I just think it is absolutely disgusting.”

And royal author Penny Junor said it would be “humiliating” to Diana’s two sons William and Harry.

However programme chiefs insist Diana: In Her Own Words will be shown this coming Sunday.

Shocked viewers even called for a boycott of the channel.

Jason Shifrin tweeted: “It’s outrageous. The fascination with her private life was what killed her.”

Ian James-Bailey added: “This is a shameful move to attract viewing figures. Boycott Channel 4.”

The tapes include Diana ridiculing Charles’s efforts to woo her.

She said: “He was all over me like a bad rash.”

Charles also allegedly told his new wife when she complained about his relationship with Camilla: “I refuse to be the only Prince of Wales who never had a mistress.” She said sex with Charles happened “once every three weeks” and later fizzled out completely.

A Channel 4 spokesman said the tapes are “an important historical source”.
