CELEBRITY Big Brother chiefs have been accused of ripping off sexy rival TV hit Love Island to boost ratings. Fans claim show bosses and stars have “stolen” a host of ideas to copy the successful formula of the hit ITV2 reality show.
CELEBRITY Big Brother chiefs have already been accused of trying to chase ratings by ripping off Love Island.
Fans say producers and stars are manufacturing bromances and romances to copy the ITV2 hit’s winning formula.
They reckon celebs have been chosen so TV chiefs get guaranteed sex in the house to pull in viewers. It has even been claimed that programme makers have designed the house so it closely resembles the Love Island villa.
Last night fans pointed out similarities between the two shows that led to copycat accusations.
They started by ridiculing the male friendship or bromance of Made In Chelsea’s Sam Thompson and Ex On The Beach’s Jordan Davies. They said it was a copy of the love-in between Love Island’s Chris Hughes and Kem Cetinay.
During a talent show task, the duo started rapping and performing a striptease.
Chris and Kem became well known for their raps, winning praise from grime star Stormzy.
One CBB viewer raged: “Jordan and Sam have clearly been watching Love Island and are trying to compete with Kem and Chris.”
Viewers also poked fun at Bachelorette bad boy Chad Johnson, left, after he boasted he could have any woman he liked.

Fan Jo Hamilton tweeted: “Don’t think Chad knows what show he’s on, CBB or is it Love Island?” Editors also aired an X-rated discussion between model Jemma Lucy and YouTube blogger Trisha Paytas. The two chatted about their bisexual past, which led many to speculate that they will get together. One fan tweeted: “Think half these celebs in CBB think they are in love island.” Jemma, 29, has also spoken about her plans to have sex on TV, something that happened regularly on ITV2’s Love Island. Last night some girls openly talked about their boobs in a raunchy chat. The house also became the subject of copycat accusations because it bears a resemblance to the Mallorca villa. CBB housemates have a pretty pool to swim in and an outdoor smoking area, decorated with fairy lights and decking. Love Island’s contestants also had a pool, decked smoking area and lights around the garden. A viewer wrote on Twitter: “CBB house/garden soooo looks like Love Island villa!!!” A TV source said: “Producers are desperate for this summer’s Celebrity Big Brother to be a success. After Big Brother got such a battering in the ratings, they need to make it work.”
