TV reveals daft whinges

SUNSEEKERS’ appalling holiday habits are to be exposed on a TV show.

Programme makers will reveal disgraceful behaviour by greedy and dishonest Brits abroad.

A new Channel 4 series which starts tonight will shine a light on shameful UK holidaymakers who wreak havoc after arriving in Spain.

Hotel guests and staff will share the good, the bad and ugly of vacationing in all-inclusive resorts in the threepart series The Secret Life Of The Holiday Resort.

The show reveals some embarrassing behaviour by tourists, including fighting over sun loungers at 4am, stealing light bulbs and robes from rooms, and demanding vast quantities of bacon for breakfast.

One staff member who was unimpressed with Brits’ attitudes says: “They are visiting Spain but they are more visiting the sun, the drinks and the all-inclusive.”

Waiter Andrey adds: “Their eyes are bigger than their tummies.”

Even the Spanish weather does not satisfy moaning Brits staying at Holiday World on the Costa del Sol, with families complaining at least once a day about the temperature.

And when they are not warring over towels or poolside spots, hungry sunlounger surfers are downing incredible portions of food.

Many put on half a stone every sunshine break as they munch through 6,000 calories a day.

But several of the families interviewed in the series see no problem with their behaviour and return year after year to nab the exact same poolside position.

Holidaymaker Wayne Lloyd, who is soaking up the sunshine with his wife and two children, says their Spanish break is the first thing they save for.

He adds: “When the bonus comes, that’s the first thing we put money down on.

“We’ve done all-inclusive a couple of times and when you work it out it is more cost effective.”

But stressed out Spanish staff fume about complaining Brits in the hotel who demand kettles for their room and exceptionally high cleaning standards.

One hotel staff member reveals: “Wi-fi connection, if it falls down once a day, it’s the end of the world for them.”

But young Danny of the Lloyd family says he loves the bulging buffets full of British classics instead of the local cuisine.

He adds: “Here if you are English, it gives you English options, so you don’t have to eat Spanish food.”

And the Brits followed during the programme do nothing to stamp out stereotypes.

Instead, they admit they pee in the pool and steal supplies from cleaning cupboards.

Creative director Lisa Edwards, of the show’s production company Lion, said the series was an interesting insight into Brits’ behaviour in large resorts.

She added: “It’s been a fascinating summer to make a series like this – with the Brexit vote and fears about terrorism.

“The chance to observe British holidaymakers in one of the biggest resorts on the Costa del Sol was an unmissable opportunity.” ¬Ê The Secret Life Of The Holiday Resort airs tonight on Channel 4 at 8pm.
