DOM’S PLEA TO BOSS

DOMINIC CALVERT-LEWIN is getting recognised in public – now he wants boss Ronald Koeman to see him as a real option.
Everton have been splashing the cash this summer and have bolstered their attack with Wayne Rooney and Sandro Ramirez following Romelu Lukaku’s departure.
But hitman Calvert-Lewin got the winner against Ruzomberok on Thursday to earn Everton a Europa League play-off showdown against Hajduk Split – and he wants more.
The Toffees will be at home in the first leg on August 17 before travelling to Croatia a week later.
Calvert-Lewin had a great summer, scoring the winner for England Under-20s in the World Cup Final against Venezuela in June.

And he said: “I’ve been stopped a couple of times in the shops and it’s all a bit weird. I’m just trying to take it all in my stride. It’s still a strange feeling to think I have scored in a World Cup Final. “It’s a moment that will live with me forever. With a goal of that importance there comes a lot of... I won’t say expectation, but people are more aware of who I am. “Now it is down to me to kick on.” If he needed bringing down to earth, Koeman did just that after Thursday’s game, warning the 20-year-old he will buy another striker before the transfer window closes, with Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud the Toffees boss’ No.1 target. Everton also look set to complete the £50m signing of Swansea midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson in time for their opening Premier League game at home to Stoke – and he could also figure against Hajduk.
