I LOOKED INTO EYES OF ARENA BOMBER

Paralysed for life in blast

A BOMBING victim looked into a terrorist’s eyes just seconds before the blast at Manchester Arena.

Martin Hibbert, 41, was paralysed for life when Salman Abedi, 22, detonated his suicide vest only 10 metres away.

Mr Hibbert, whose severe injuries included 22 shrapnel wounds, said: “I remember seeing his eyes and then there was the blast.”

The attack happened at an Ariana Grande concert at the Manchester Arena in May which left 22 dead.

Mr Hibbert, from Bolton, had taken his daughter Eve to the concert, who was also injured.

He is undergoing rehabilita­tion in Southport after being treated at a specialist spinal injuries unit.
