HOW BEING KRUEGER’S SAVED FRED

Fireball lad poses as horror villain

A BURNS victim nicknamed “Crispy” by pals is using his scars to dress up as horror character Freddy Krueger.

Freddie Beeson was left with skin “hanging from his body” after a 25-litre oil drum exploded in his hands.

He nearly died, was in a coma for three months and then underwent more than 30 operations.

But Freddie’s face was unscathed, so he wears a Freddy Krueger mask to complete his imitation of the Elm Street villain.

The 26-year-old suffered 80% burns, a badly disfigured hand and deep scarring across his body.

Freddie, from Sandbach, Cheshire, explained: “I was burning some rubbish in the back garden and I had this drum of oil.

“It turns out someone had put petrol in it too and it exploded, setting myself and the garden on fire.

“I had to make my way back to the house while on fire – my mum was stood at the back door screaming her head off.

“I just had to calmly say, ‘Wrap me up in the rug mum and put me out’. She was hysterical.”

As he sat waiting for an ambulance to arrive, Freddie even managed to smoke a cigarette.

He said: “After it all happened, I was sat on the doorstep having a cigarette with my skin hanging off.”

“Humour is a good way to deal with what I’ve been through. I was that kind of person anyway. But people are shocked when they see me.

“I went to a rave and some guy cried on me when he saw me – I was only wearing a pair of boxers so he could see my scars.

Then I bought the Freddy Krueger mask for Halloween and went to a nightclub.

“I’ve never actually seen A Nightmare On Elm Street before but people loved it.”
