HERE’S something that nobody wants but, it seems, everybody needs.

It’s a special edition of the double cab Nissan Navara that’s just gone on sale, so even if you’re not a builder or a farmer and you just crave its posing value you’ll have to have one.

Called the Navara Trek-1° it “guarantees exclusivity” say Nissan, because production is limited to 400 cars.

Want me to explain its weird name? Well I’ll do that later but first I want to tell you that all Nissan’s prices include VAT, which is unusual for what is billed as a workman’s car and may tell you a lot more about the people who buy one.

What Nissan describe as “adventurous new styling” brings bedmounted styling bars with forward facing LED spot lamps, side styling bars and Trek1° decals. Well, every builder and farmer in the country needs that.

Then there’s the kit. Buyers will get sat nav, DAB stereo, all round camera, rear parking sensors, LED headlights, a full-sized spare, leather seats, heated at the front, and eight-way driver’s seat adjustment.

Call me odd, but it’s beginning to sound like a Chelsea tractor.

How much does it cost? Get in quick because it’s £35,065, which sounds like a bargain.

Now for that name and let’s leave it to Nissan: “Trek-1° takes inspiration from the geographical location of the Navarre desert in northern Spain – at -1° longitude.” Surprisingly, I didn’t know that, but I do know it’s where good wine comes

from.
