A GENDER fluid couple faced a fierce backlash from television viewers who accused them of “forcing” their son to explore his gender.

Proud transgender Nikki and Louise Draven say they will raise Star-Cloud as a “person” rather than a boy.

They then want him to decide his gender when he is older.

Speaking on ITV show This Morning, Nikki said: “Basically he knows biologically he’s a boy but we don’t want him to have the constrains of gender yet.

“We want him to explore both sides of the spectrum and then decide when he’s older.” But show presenter Eamonn Holmes questioned if the couple, from Middlesbrough, were actually “imposing their life” onto their four-year-old son.

Many viewers agreed, criticising the pair on Twitter. One said: “I totally respect grown people going through gender problems but don’t force it on your child – it’s cruel... let kids be kids.”

Another commented: “These parents on #ThisMorning are deluded... I’m all for transgender rights but just let him have a childhood.” And a third agreed: “Just let him be a normal boy – stop messing with his head.” Louise was born a man and is now having hormone treatment to become a woman, while Nikki was born female but dresses as both a man and a woman and does not identify as either.

Questions

And their four-year-old son calls Louise “mummy”, despite her being his biological father, and Nikki “daddy”, who is his biological mother.

Louise said: “Right now he’s very young and he’s getting on with his hobbies.

“When he gets older we understand he’s going to want to ask questions and we will be able to provide him with a fully formed answer instead of trying to fob him off with ‘just because’.”

Star will be wearing a boy’s uniform to school but will wear pink socks as a “compromise”.

Louise added: “We know that when he goes to reception it could form interest.

“We said to the school he’s going to come in a boy’s uniform because he needs particular support but we’ve compromised with him.

“Instead of having boys’ socks he’s having pink socks.”
