We’ll stop the rot

RED DEVILS FIRED UP

- By JULIE STOTT

ONE of the best days in the rugby league calendar is nearly here and SIX lucky Daily Star readers could be there for FREE.

We’ve got three pairs of tickets for the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup Final to give away thanks to our friends at the Rugby Football League. Wigan take on Hull at Wembley on Saturday August 26 and to stand a chance of winning all you have to do is tell us: What was the ® other again in the Super 8s on Friday, with the Warriors possibly having one eye on the cup final.

But Tomkins, whose brothers Sam and Joel play for Wigan, says it doesn’t matter in the slightest what their opponents are doing.

Hungry

He said: “It is all about us and we know what we need to do this week because we owe the fans.

“Last year the spectators stayed loyal and stuck with us to the Million Pound Game and we owe them a bit of success now.

“We are hungry to start winning again. We want to get to the Grand Final for the fans’ sake as well.”

Wigan will field their strongest possible team, despite having the cup final next week, but there is no return for Dom Manfredi.

The winger was expected to play after 12 months out but tweaked his injured knee in a reserve game at the weekend.

He will definitely miss Friday’s game and the trip to Wembley.

Coach Shaun Wane said: “It’s a massive blow.

“It might end up not being that serious. It might be a couple of weeks but it will be too much.”

Tom Davies has a slight hamstring injury, meaning Liam Marshall will get chance to stake his claim for the Challenge Cup clash.

Davies has been preferred over Marshall on one wing for the last four games, with Joe Burgess favourite on the other flank.
