FORMER Brookside actress Claire Sweeney is making a comeback in Benidorm.

The Celebrity Big Brother star will be playing a no-nonsense ground crew worker at the Spanish resort’s airport.

And she gets into a bust-up with the Dawson family when they try to get a flight back to the UK. Spookily, the troublesome clan features actress Kate Fitzgerald as man-eating “cougar” granny Loretta.

Kate played Doreen Corkhill on the axed Channel 4 soap Brookside while Claire played Lindsey Corkhill.

A source said: “It’s pure coincidence they have ended up being on screen together but Brookie fans will love it.”

Claire – whose last TV series was Candy Cabs in 2011 – has focussed on stage and theatre work in recent years, including stints in Dirty Dancing, Tell Me On A Sunday and Legally Blonde.

She is also pals with Benidorm actor Tony Maudsley, right, who plays camp hairdresser Kenneth, and they appeared on stage together in Hairspray in 2015.

Also joining her as an airport worker on the ITV show will be Layton Williams, who is best known for starring in Billy Elliott and Rent.

Next year will be Benidorm’s 10th anniversary and a host of famous faces have been lined up, including Bobby Ball, Hale and Pace, The Chuckle Brothers and Tony Hadley.
