Pulis set for £25m Jon bid

- By JEREMY CROSS

® TONY PULIS admits West Brom could be left with no choice but to cash in on Jonny Evans.

The Baggies have rejected an initial bid of £18m from Manchester City for the Northern Ireland defender.

But City are expected to come back with an improved offer of up to £25m and Pulis admits he is already looking at possible replacements.

The Baggies boss said: “Everybody’s got their value and their need.

“Our need is for Jonny to stay but if they blow us out of the water, it is for us to find someone to take his place.

“It is crazy to say a team like West Brom won’t sell players if people put an enormous amount of money in front of us.

“Firstly, we don’t want to sell him or need to sell him. We are not desperate to get the money in, so it would have to be a very, very good offer.”

Pulis insists Evans will not follow in the footsteps of Chelsea outcast Diego Costa and kick up a stink to leave The Hawthorns.

He added: “Arsenal made an offer for him last year. Leicester did last year and have again this summer, and it hasn’t affected him.”

City boss Pep Guardiola has refused to discuss his club’s bid for the former Manchester United star.

Guardiola said: “He’s a player for West Brom. Tony Pulis was clear, so there’s nothing to talk about.

“At the end of the window, if we have to stay with the players we have right now we are happy.”
