MY BOY’LL BURY THIS JOKER

YOU BET I'LL NAIL IT

- By CHRIS McKENNA

FLOYD MAYWEATHER will back himself to beat Conor McGregor with a huge wager.

Reports in Las Vegas claim he will lump on £3.9m but the American refused to say how much he will gamble.

However, Mayweather insists he will post the betting slip on social media.

He said: “You guys will see the betting ticket, don’t worry.

“I can’t really say what the number is but I will bet something heavy. Biggest ever? Most likely. It is going to be a cakewalk. I don’t worry about nothing.

“Ain’t nobody who can beat me. I am the best boxer that ever lived.”

The fight is licensed by the Nevada State Athletic Commission and their rules do not prohibit fighters from betting on themselves.

In contrast, the British Boxing Board of Control do not allow fighters to take a punt on their own fights. Mayweather is an avid gambler and regularly bets six-figure sums on NFL and NBA games.

But those close to the 40-year-old insist he has never bet on himself for any of his previous 49 wins.

He will pocket more than £200m for this fight and has amassed a personal fortune of more than £500m.

But McGregor, who refused to reveal if he will bet on himself, said: “I think he has a big-time gambling problem. From seeing him, he gambles on half-times and things like that. He shows what his wins are, never shows what the losses are.

“Maybe that’s why he is in this position he is in and he had to take this fight.

“So, look, I’m focused on the fight – not gambling.”

The Nevada Gaming Control Board is expecting around £782m to be wagered in Las Vegas this month, the largest total since Mayweather fought Manny Pacquiao in 2015.
