Sneyd warns Hull’s rivals

-

MARC SNEYD has warned Hull’s Super League rivals to be very afraid of the double Challenge Cup winners.

Hull’s season fell away badly last season after they won the Cup and they failed to make the Grand Final.

But Wembley man of the match winner Sneyd said: “Last year we were massively disappointed with the way we went about our business after Wembley and we are determined not to do that again.

“We will celebrate this but we have to make sure we prepare the best way we can to play Leeds on Thursday.”

Amazing

Sneyd was sensational in this thrilling final, helping set up all three of Hull’s tries and kicking three goals from three.

He won the Lance Todd Trophy for the second year running and said: “Everyone has individual goals but if that was your number one priority then you would be in the wrong sport.

“Your goal is to help the team win and this is an added bonus. It is absolutely amazing. It will be in my window so it’s the first thing anyone sees.”

Sneyd was pushed hard for the award by two-try scorer Mahe Fonua, who admitted he almost got left out.

The winger said: “I’m really grateful to Lee Radford for keeping his faith in me. The last few weeks I haven’t been showing form and I really needed to repay him.

“I thought I did that today so I hope he’s proud of what I’ve done.” Hull led 18-10 with seven minutes left but had to withstand a mighty fightback from Wigan, who almost snatched it at the death.

But Joe Burgess’s attempt to get a second late try was ruled out for a forward pass to the agony of teammate John Bateman. The forward, who had scored their opening try, said: “I was jumping up and down and then saw the ref blow the whistle. It is awful feeling.”

Winger Liam Marshall, called up 10 minutes before kick-off after Tom Davies failed a fitness test, said: “It is going to be tough to get ourselves up from this but we have got to be strong.

‘‘The Grand Final is the goal for us now.”

Hull’s other try scorer was Fetuli Talanoa, with Oliver Gildart also scoring for Wigan.
