Boyz going street into roaring 40s

NEW LOOK FOR LADS

-

FORGET everything you know about Boyzone, as they are reinventing themselves for a comeback album.

There will be no cheesy love ballads on the band’s forthcoming “street” album, as they’ve had an urban makeover in order to stay “fresh”.

Shane Lynch has given his pals tips on staying down with the kids now they’re all in their 40s, and has been working on a new sound for the group.

Ronan Keating, right, told me: “Boyzone have taken a whole new direction, it’s a fresh new sound, there’s no covers on it.

“Shane has been working so hard, there has been a lot of Shane influence rather than Boyzone. He’s from an urban background with his style and taste in music, and that’s been a huge influence on this record and our music.

“The album will be out either this year or next, we’re trying to get it finished, it’s been really enjoyable.”

It’s not just their sound that has had an overhaul either, the boys are looking better than ever, and Ronan is determined to get back his chiselled abs.

He reckons his role on the new Magic Radio Breakfast Show, and the wake-up call of 4.30am, has given him the perfect opportunity to get back in shape.

“I’m up at 4 but I finish at 10, I want to use the time to go to the gym every day, and get back in the best shape, that’s my goal.

“I’m only 40, that’s young enough to train hard, work hard.

“I think we are in our prime as a band, we’re looking better than we have in years, or maybe ever!”

That said, the guys have no plans to rehash old dance moves: “Look, we’re not kids any more. I don’t know about dancing – we’ll see how it goes,” Ronan laughed. Listen to The Magic Radio Breakfast Show with Ronan Keating and Harriet Scott weekdays from 6-10am. magic.co.uk
