Rooney girl’s mum fury at Teddy slur
FLING STORY ‘IS NOT TRUE’
THE mum of the party girl whose car Wayne Rooney was driving when he was arrested last night denied that she once dated a football legend.
Neighbours alleged Lisa Simpson had a relationship with ex-Manchester United and England star Teddy Sheringham.
The claim was being openly discussed on Facebook. It came as it was reported 29-year-old lettings agent Laura – who claimed she “kissed and cuddled” married Rooney before police swooped – was obsessed with footballers and targeted them in the hope of becoming a wealthy WAG.
One former neighbour of the Simpsons in Irlam, Greater Manchester, claimed the wannabe WAGwas like her mum.
“The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree,’’ she said.
“Her mum went out with a footballer and it looks like that is what she wanted too.’’
A Facebook user wrote of Laura: “My mum was saying that her mum had a fling with Teddy Sheringham. STAY CLASSY.’’
Sheringham, 51, has recently been appointed manager of Indian Super League team Atletico de Kolkata.
He played for United from 1997 to 2001 during which time they won three Premier League titles.
Last night Laura’s sister Eden, 27, laughed off the allegations about Sheringham and her 47-yearold mum, who now lives in Spain.
Eden said: “That is not true. That did not happen.
“But I will be telling my mum because that is funny.” After speaking to her mother she added: “I’ve clarified with my mum and those rumours are not true.
“She’s not happy whatsoever that her name is being slandered.’’
Teddy’s agent had not commented on the allegations last night.
