FOLK musician Jack Johnson is back with his first album in four years, All The Light Above It Too. Here I talk to the Hawaiian about politics, family, and musical influences. What was the process like for this album? “My wife is the one that helps me decide when I have enough tracks for an album, she helps pull recordings off my phone, and looks into all my notebooks, and journals and everything.” The album feels politically charged? “Yeah it is I guess. We are just at a really interesting time now, it’s confusing, it’s weird, it’s entertaining but it’s strange when you’re entertained by the government and politics.” Do you have plans to tour again soon? “We’re touring South America and Australia pretty soon, after the New Year we hope to get over to London.”
