MEET THE NEW EYE PHONE <P<
But handset’s a costly £999
APPLE unveiled its latest iPhone last night claiming: “There has never been anything like it.”
The iPhone X, referred to as “10”, was revealed by the US tech giant at its new California HQ.
Apple said the phone had been given its most radical makeover ever. But it is the most expensive yet, costing £999 in the UK.
The new device uses a facial recognition system called Face ID to identify its owner, rather than the fingerprint system of previous models.
The X features an edge-to-edge display, wireless charging and a state-of-the-art camera.
It is completely water and dust-proof and it has a new processor which the firm says is 35% faster than anything it has made before.
The iPhone X battery also stays charged for two hours longer than the previous iPhone. To make room for a front facing selfie camera and facial recognition, the screen has a slight “notch” indented at the top. Apple marketing boss Philip Schiller said: “It is all screen, it is beautiful to look at, incredible to hold. There has never been anything like it.” It goes on sale in the US on November 3.
