League TV blitz

- By GEORGE SCOTT

® THE Football League has agreed a £600m deal to screen every midweek Championship game.

From 2019, Sky will broadcast up to 183 live matches a year from the Championship, League One, League Two, Carabao Cup and Checkatrade Trophy.

The broadcaster will also stream 80 Championship midweek matches a season across interactive and digital platforms.

The remaining midweek games will be streamed live by the clubs on their own websites.

Matches played between 2.45pm and 5.15pm on Saturdays will continue to be blocked from live streaming.

The new deal, which runs from 2019 to 2024, is worth 36 per cent more than the Football League’s existing £88.3m-a-season contract.
