PARTY girl Laura Simpson who hoped to bed Wayne Rooney on the night he was nicked for drink-driving hid a deadly secret from the football star, we can reveal.

THE party girl who hoped to bed Wayne Rooney hid a shocking secret from him, we can reveal.

Laura Simpson’s brother Reid watched while a street gang clashed with one of the footballer’s biggest fans, the victim’s mum claimed last night.

Kathy Barber’s Manchester United-mad son Danny, 24, was attacked after watching Rooney play for them in the 2009 Champions League final and died five days later.

Kathy claimed Reid was with a booze-fuelled gang that chased Danny for “200 yards” near his home in Irlam, Greater Manchester.

Though he did not land a blow she claimed Reid did nothing to stop the clash. Reid, who was just 16 at the time, was not charged with any offence.

But three other youths were convicted of violent disorder and sentenced to community service.

Kathy, 54, said: “Reid Simpson didn’t hit my son but he just stood there.”

She said the incident in which Danny was injured took place just outside the family’s home.

Kathy added: “By the time I got downstairs he was just getting up off the floor with blood on his face so we took him back inside the house.

“He slipped into a coma and died five days later.’’

She blasted Rooney for hooking up with property lettings agent Laura, 29.

“He is as bad as her,’’ angry Kathy said. “It is a vile thing to do.”

Arrested

She was also angry after reports that Laura, who said she had hoped to have sex with Rooney, had sold her story to newspapers.

Kathy insisted: “Nobody should be profiting from this. Now she thinks she is a celebrity.’’

Rooney, 31, was arrested after driving Laura’s car at 2am on September 1. He had been out drinking with pals while his pregnant wife Coleen was in Mallorca with their three sons.

The striker, who re-signed for boyhood club Everton from United this summer, is due to appear in court on Monday charged with drink-driving.

Yesterday he flashed his wedding ring as he jetted off with his teammates to Italy to play in tonight’s Europa League match against Atalanta. Meanwhile Laura was on holiday in Spain and has re-tweeted her friends’ calls for her to go on TV’s I’m A Celebrity.

Reid’s mum Lisa, 47, who lives in Spain with her now 24-year-old son, insisted he was not involved in any violence.

Laura’s sister Eden said: “My brother had nothing to do with it.

“He wasn’t charged.’’
