BORIS: WE’RE ALL SO CHIRPY

The riddle of Cable’s honourable member... Johnson ‘won’t fly nest’ over Brexit

BORIS Johnson has denied the Cabinet is split over Brexit.

And the Foreign Secretary yesterday claimed bizarrely: “We are a nest of singing birds.”

Mr Johnson also dismissed rumours he is set to quit over his rift with Theresa May about Britain’s exit deal with the EU.

He is rumoured to be considering stepping down if he disagrees with the PM’s speech in Italy on Friday outlining the UK approach to Brexit.

It is believed the PM could suggest paying tens of billions to the EU during a two-year transition stage after Brexit in 2019.

Mr Johnson has argued Britain should not pay a penny for continued access to the single market.

He was questioned over Brexit as he sweated in a hotel lobby after returning from a jog in New York City.

Asked if there was a split on Europe, Mr Johnson answered: “No, we are a Government working together. We are a nest of singing birds.

“We are working together, that is the key thing, to make sure that Britain can take advantage of the opportunities of Brexit.”

Asked if he was going to resign, he replied: “No.”

Over the weekend Mr Johnson wrote a 4,000-word vision outlining his take on Brexit.

Many saw it as a potential leadership bid, which he also waved off. SNAPS of Lib Dem leader Vince Cable in the bath have emerged ahead of his speech at the party’s conference in Bournemouth. The nude images of the 74-yearold were taken by his wife Rachel Smith, who sent them to be printed – but sources say they ended up “in the wrong hands”. They added that bubbles in the water covered the politician’s private parts. Sir Vince, the oldest leader in the party’s history, delivered his first keynote address yesterday. He called for wealth taxes, saying: “We must end the stranglehold of oligarchs and speculators in our housing market. “I want to see fierce tax penalties on the acquisition of property for investment purposes by overseas investors.”
