GEMMA Collins has revealed that she quit I’m A Celebrity after being battered by an ex-boyfriend just days before her Jungle ordeal began.
The Towie star said the trauma from the attack in 2014 forced her to leave the camp in floods of tears after just three days.
Gemma was accused of bottling out because she could not handle meagre food rations. But she said: “I could not get it off my brain and as the days went on I was in so much pain. I am gutted everyone thought I was a quitter and hungry, but that’s not the truth.”
Gemma, 36, was locked in her flat by the thug, who left the reality star bleeding on the floor.
Blood
Pictures released for the first time yesterday show Gemma’s hair matted with blood and her hands with blood on them.
She said: “He repeatedly kicked me. Then he walked into the bedroom and started smashing up the place. I managed to find the last bit of strength in me and I flipped the bolt open on the door and crawled down the stairs, blood dripping down my face.”
A neighbour called the police but she said: “I dropped all charges because I was too scared to see it through.
“I wish to this day that I saw it through.”
Gemma hopes that by speaking out she will inspire other women to leave violent partners.
She said: “If any man lays a finger on you, you have to walk away. If they do it once then they will do it again.
“I’ve never escaped that night. Even if I’m speaking out, I fear for my life.”
