COVER POINT POINT

- by PATRICK WEAVER

VETERAN sprinter TAKE COVER (4.00) can burn off his younger rivals at Newbury today.

The 10-year-old has recently showed he retains much of his ability and looks a tempting proposition in the Dubai International Airport World Trophy.

The Group Three contest will be a real cavalry charge and Take Cover is likely to be taken on for the lead by Thesme.

Cotai Glory, Muthmir and Priceless provide stern opposition but the selection has the fast ground that he needs to show his best form and can repel his rivals.

Wellbeing

SECOND STEP (2.15) has been a model of consistency since joining Roger Charlton’s yard and looks a rock solid proposition in the Dubai Duty Free Legacy Cup.

Jamie Spencer gets a fine tune out of the six-year-old and he showed his wellbeing by comfortably winning the August Stakes at Windsor last time out.

The 2016 Epsom Oaks runner-up Architecture makes a belated seasonal reappearance and is among the dangers, along with Fabricate and Desert Encounter.

Few two-year-olds have been as consistent as INVINCIBLE ARMY (2.50) and he can land Group Two glory in the Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes.

Excellent seconds in the Molecomb and Gimcrack were followed by a smooth success in the Group Three Sirenia Stakes at Kempton and he can now step up to nab Group Two success.

Nebo and James Garfield are dangers although they both look fairly exposed.

The main danger could be Owen

Burrows’ Enjazaat who may have significant improvement in him.

Another horse on the upgrade is TARTE TROPEZIENNE (2.35) who can land the nap in the ebfstallions. com Bentley Cambridge Fillies’ Handicap at Newmarket.

Tough

William Haggas’ improving filly looks well handicapped off a mark of 84 and probably has far more scope than most of her rivals.

Lady Bergamot and Vuela should provide the main opposition.

The Betfred Cesarewitch Trial over 2m 2f is a devilishly difficult handicap to fathom and looks wide open.

Alan King runs three and all have a chance although preference is for the tough and consistent Who Dares Wins, who has proven stamina.

But it might be worth chancing Jim Goldie’s GREAT FIGHTER (3.50), who rarely runs a bad race and should be in the mix at a double-digit price.
