MEGHAN Markle joined Prince Harry for the couple’s first official engagement together.

But the lovebirds were forced to sit 18 seats apart.

The latest development will fuel speculation the pair are set to announce their engagement, as it emerged only royal protocol kept them separated.

Smitten Harry, 33, launching the Invictus Games, could not keep his eyes off his girl, repeatedly aiming longing looks at sexy TV star Meghan, 36.

The prince fell foul of royal rules banning him from sitting beside the Suits actress because the pair are not engaged.

Harry was forced to watch the Paralympic-style event for disabled veterans between US First Lady Melania Trump and Ukraine president Petro Poroshenko.

Meghan had to make do with being seated beside pal Markus Anderson at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, four rows away from Harry.

Her distance from him failed to dampen her excitement as he delivered a heartrending speech ahead of the games. She beamed as Harry took to the stage to hail the 550 hero athletes gathered, telling them: “You are all winners.”

The actress laughed enthusiastically and seemed head over heels in love with Harry as he cracked jokes with Captain Trevor Greene, who suffered horrific injuries in Afghanistan.

The prince then took his seat in the VIP area alongside Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and US President Donald Trump’s former model missus Melania.

Meghan is not entitled to Brit taxpayerfunded protection but it appeared she was being shadowed by one of Harry’s Scotland Yard security officers during Saturday evening’s action.

The babe has been dating the Queen’s grandson since July last year.

Maid

She and Harry shared a safari trip to Africa this summer when the prince is rumoured to have popped the question. Harry created the multi-sport competition in 2014 after being inspired by US version, the Warrior Games. Competitors are drawn from 17 countries, including Britain, America, Canada and Australia. All are former or serving members of the Armed Forces, with many having endured life-changing injuries. Meanwhile, it has emerged Meghan has a family royal connection. Her great-greatgreat-grandma Mary Bird was a maid at Windsor Castle in the 1850s, according to records unearthed by the Markles.
