Alex will keep us in the Hunt

-

PAUL HUNTINGTON believes Alex Neil is the perfect man to lead Preston to glory.

This was a truly dreadful clash but Millwall battled hard for a point after bringing Preston’s recent red-hot scoring run to an end.

Preston are now unbeaten in six matches and skipper Huntington says it is all down Neil.

“I feel personally and as a team that we’re going to get better under this manager,” he said.

“He’s very qualified as a coach and the messages he’s putting across are great. We’re enjoying it.

“It’s just about approaching each game in the right manner and not getting carried away with what we’ve done so far.

“You have to keep moving forward and not look at the praise the team has had.

“We have to keep learning and taking the manager’s messages on board. We have a lot of potential and it’s not always going to go perfect or as we hoped.

“You can never fault the group of players we’ve got – everybody wants to play. We are confident about this season and it’s all about fine margins and taking that chance or two.”

Millwall boss Neil Harris was thrilled that his men hung on for a point.

He said: “I was pleased with all their performances and what’s pleasing is when you’re not playing very well, you have to do your defensive responsibilities and we did that well.

“To come here and be as resolute and diligent is really good and we have to make sure that that’s our standard for the rest of the season.”
