Holroyd praises battling Dragons

CHRIS HOLROYD saluted his Wrexham team-mates after beating Tranmere with 10 men.

Holroyd’s 58th-minute winner pushed the Dragons up to fifth spot despite having Sam Wedgbury dismissed for two yellows after only 13 minutes.

The striker said: “When the sending-off comes you think it might be a long afternoon.

But you know what, to a man they were absolutely outstandin­g.”

Rovers, the league’s lowest scorers, are 18th and boss Micky Mellon said: “We’ve got to work hard and show character.”

Sutton reclaimed top spot with an exciting 3-2 win over Barrow and manager Paul Dodwell said: “It’s a great three points.”

Supersub Rommy Boco notched a late Orient equaliser as Aldershot let slip a 2-0 lead at the Recreation Ground.

O’s boss Steve Davis said: “Craig Clay’s goal sparked us into life and I thought we were the better team in the second half.”

Winger Matty Kosylo scored a cracker and made the winner for Tom Denton as 10-man Halifax beat Bromley 2-1.

Scott Garner was sent off just before the break for catching Brett Williams with a flailing arm but Halifax boss Billy Heath said: “100 per cent we will be putting in an appeal.”

Chester beat Maidenhead 2-0 to record their first home win of 2017 and new boss Marcus Bignot said: “I am delighted with the performanc­e.”
