A CANNIBAL couple who ate at least 30 people served a stuffed human head decorated with oranges for dinner.
Dmitry Bakshaev, 35, and his nurse wife Natalia, 42, also kept pickled human remains in jars.
They stored body parts in their fridge, freezer and a cellar.
Seven packs of frozen human remains have been found by police.
Officers have recovered eight body parts and 19 samples of skin.
The Bakshaevs have reportedly confessed to living as a cannibal family in Krasnodar, south-west Russia, for the past 18 years.
They were arrested after a phone was found containing pictures of a man posing for selfies with human body parts.
Another snap showed a human head on a plate surrounded by oranges. Others featured a woman’s head and part of a skull. The remains of a dead woman were found in a bucket and bag in a cellar on land linked to a military academy in the city. Another bag had her possessions.
Natalia Smyatskaya, senior assistant to the head of Krasnodar Investigative Committee, said the victim had been identified though her name has not been released.
She was 35 and had moved to Krasnodar from Omutinsk – a Russian town 2,000 miles east. Ms Smyatskaya said the initial investigation was originally only into the woman’s death.
But other alleged murders were being checked.
The Bakshaevs were last night in custody.
Both worked at Krasnodar’s Military Aviation Academy and lived in a hostel on-site.
Police said the pair are thought to have used drugs to knock out their victims.
The smell of the drugs reeked from their room, according to neighbours.
A worker said: “Each time we tried to enter their room they started wild shouting and crying.”
