Sacked BA girl ‘spat in coffee’

- By ALEXANDER BROWN alex.brown@dailystar.co.uk

A STEWARDESS sacked over a racist rant had been fired by another airline for allegedly “spitting in a passenger’s coffee”.

Joanne Wickenden lost her job with British Airways this week over a Snapchat video in which she mocked Nigerian accents and joked about the size of their willies.

But it was claimed yesterday that she had left budget airline Norwegian in February after a hot drink row.

An ex-colleague claimed she spat in the coffee after a traveller upset her on a flight from Gatwick Airport.

Wickenden, 23, had her contract with the airline terminated after three months.

A spokesman for Norwegian said: “We can confirm that Joanne Wickenden was employed for a period of approximately three months until February this year.

“We do not comment on personnel issues.”

The revelation comes after Wickenden sparked fury by mocking African holidaymakers.

In the clip, she said: “All the Nigerians are gonna be asking for f***ing upgrades because they haven’t got enough leg room because their BBCs [big black c ***s] are in their way.

“Big d***s swinging from side to side.”

The budding actress, from Farnham, Hants, insisted she had resigned and was framed by colleagues who released the video of her in uniform.

She said: “I’d had enough and didn’t want to fly any more.

“I was set up by a BA colleague. I was talking to this so-called friend on Snapchat and they were egging me on to do impressions.

“Unknown to me they were recording this conversation on their phone and sent the footage to others.” RYANAIR is facing legal action as outrage grows over the latest cancelled flights fiasco.

The Civil Aviation Authority accused the airline yesterday of “breaking the law”.

And it is now launching “enforcement action” against Michael O’Leary’s budget carrier for failing to inform customers about their rights.

Ryanair had earlier axed another 18,000 flights for the winter season. It will hit a further 400,000 bookings, on top of the 315,000 cancellations earlier this month.

Angry passengers accused the firm of “cancelling Christmas”. The chaos has been caused by a shortage of pilots following a blunder over their annual leave.

CAA chief executive Andrew Haines was “furious” with the Dublin-based ® carrier for not telling passengers they were entitled to be re-routed with other airlines. He said: “They are not making clear to people their entitlement. They are not compliant fully – we have very clear evidence that they are not. “If they follow through on what they are saying then they would be breaking the law.” The CAA also accused Ryanair of failing to provide details on refunds for additional expenses. Angry customers blasted the airline. Karen McDerment, from Patna, Ayrshire, wrote: “Ryanair = couldn’t care. Would rather pay a bit more in future then give you another penny.” A Ryanair spokesman said: “We will be meeting with the CAA and will comply fully with whatever requirements they ask us to.”
