Wagner sicknote for Kane

- By MIKE WHALLEY

® DAVID WAGNER reckons the only thing that can stop Harry Kane at the moment is illness.

The Tottenham striker is in outstanding form with nine goals in his last five games, including a hat-trick against Apoel Nicosia in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Huddersfield boss Wagner has the tricky task of stopping him when Spurs visit tomorrow in the Premier League.

“Maybe he’s ill,” said the Huddersfield boss said.

“I saw the game on Tuesday. He’s a proper goalscorer. He scored with his right foot, left foot, header, everything.

“You give him space, he has a chance and he usually takes it. So this means give him no chances, give him no space and then hopefully he’s not successful.

“But they have so many qualities all over the park. We are aware of him, but we are not only focused on him.”

The Terriers have conceded just three goals in their opening six league games and Wagner believes their best hope of an upset is to bring Spurs down a peg or two.

“I have no plan to stop individual players of Tottenham. It makes no sense from my point of view,” said Wagner.

“We have to be focused on every individual and on the team, and from this we will find our solutions.

“One aim is to make sure that we can pull them down to our level. Then we hope we can neutralise their offensive players, even if we know it’s a very tough task we have in front of us.” ®
