SHEERAN’S GOING POTTY

HUGH’S ABOUT?

-

MILLIONAIRE hitmaker Ed Sheeran has been swapping his microphone for a pool cue.

The Shape Of You singer may be a lyrical genius but his skills at the pool table aren’t up to scratch. Ed’s first protégé, Jamie Lawson, has revealed that – despite having his own pub in the back garden – his boss is rubbish when it comes to potting. In ex- Hugh Jackman. change for signing him to his label Gingerbread Man Records, Jamie has been giving Ed tips so he doesn’t show himself up at his local boozer any more.

Skills

Jamie told me: “He’s pretty good at singing, as you know, but I do beat him at pool – that is one thing I’m better than him at!

“His pool skills need a bit of work still but I only really get him for an hour or two each time. The pair conducted almost all their meetings regarding Jamie’s latest album, Happy Accidents, in a not-so glamorous London pub over the pool table. He laughed: “We normally catch up and it’s low key. “He’s not fussy where we go at all – last time we just went to a local pub.” Like Ed, the Can’t See Straight hitmaker prefers a quiet drink with his friends to partying with famous folk. Jamie spilled: “I don’t think I’m really suited to that lifestyle. When I was in LA I just worked, I felt so privileged to record in these great studios like Sunset Sounds, which is very famous. “The Doors, James Taylor, all these people have recorded there. “So I just got stuck right in and worked as hard as I could. “I didn’t do any hobnobbing with the stars, I don’t really get invited to be honest!” Yet there are some stars he’s hoping to meet. Jamie revealed: “I’m a huge fan of the band Elbow. “To work with or meet Guy Garvey would be a dream.” Happy Accidents is out now.
