Marilyn hell as gig guns fall on him

ROCKER Marilyn Manson was crushed by a giant stage prop during a live show.

The singer was halfway through his cover of the Eurythmics’ hit Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) when the prop in the shape of two large pistols fell on him and stopped the New York concert.

Manson – whose real name is Brian Warner – was seriously hurt about an hour into the gig at the Manhattan Center Hammerstein Ballroom.

Witnesses said he had been trying to climb on to the prop when it toppled over.

One fan who saw the accident, Anthony Biscardi, said the crowd “instantly freaked out”.

Mr Biscardi said: “He was performing the song Sweet Dreams.

“Towards the middle of the song it seemed as though he tried climbing onto a prop.

“The first touch of weight on those poles and it came crashing down on top of him.”

Stagehands rushed to help the stricken singer and lifted the giant pistols off Manson but it was some time before he could be taken off stage on a stretcher by medical staff. The music was immediately cut and the venue went dark. A curtain blocked the audience’s view of the stage. In videos posted online, stage crew and band members can be seen lifting the prop off the singer but he does not get back up. Mr Biscardi continued: “He was pretty limp, almost as though he was unconscious.” He added that a black sheet was put around the star until he could be taken off stage, when an announcement was made that the show was cancelled “due to injury”. Shock-rocker Manson’s representatives said the 48-year-old was in hospital but would not say how serious his condition was. The accident occurred a week after Manson said the Columbine massacre in which two teenagers shot up their school ruined his career. The two gunmen responsible for the 1999 shooting were said to be fans.
