M3 fire charge

Storm chaos power cut fear

-

A MEGA storm boosted by hurricane-force winds will cause chaos today – and bring the threat of power cuts.

The next seven days are expected to be the wildest since Storm Ewan hit the UK in February.

There are fears that electricity supplies could be disrupted by 70mph gusts generated by ex-hurricanes Lee and Maria.

Drivers are warned to expect a difficult morning with the AA expecting an increased volume of callouts.

AA spokesman Luke Bosdet said: “Check for disruptions on your route before you travel and don’t drive through floodwater.”

Tomorrow will also be blustery with more gales expected on Thursday and into the weekend.

A Met Office spokesman for the North added: “Delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely.

“Some short-term interruptions to power supplies are possible.”

Bookies Coral have slashed the odds on October being the wettest on record from 4-1 to 2-1 after a flurry of bets. A TEEN has been charged after a mysterious burning material sparked an 11-hour closure of the M3.

The 17-year-old boy, from Winchester, is accused of two counts of arson with intent and two of endangering road users.

The M3 in Hampshire was closed due to a “potentially hazardous” substance on September 23. • • • • • • Three fashionable colours per pack Premium quality lenses and sturdy spring hinges Available in six strengths (Diopters) FREE cleaning cloth pouches Normal Price £23.97 Reading Glasses Three-Pack Deal Qty: I enclose a cheque for £ Or please debit my… Signature DS3PK04 Price P&P Qty(Total) readers special offer Total Diopter: Express Newspapers Offer DS3PK04
