EMMERDALE goes bonkers this week. Or bonkerser, should I say. I mustn’t go into too much detail – I’m sworn to secrecy, so as to maximise the blimey-I-didn’t-see-that-comingfactor – but what I can reveal, for tonight’s episode at least (7pm, ITV), is that sworn enemies Emma and Moira have a wee disagreement up at Butler’s Farm. A disagreement, that is, which soon turns violent, and which ends up with a pitchfork knocking out a light (I love it when Emmerdale plays to its strengths and brings farm implements into its fight scenes), setting the barn alight and leaving the pair trapped inside. Are they both about to be barbecued or what? EPISODE four of the dark, disturbing LIAR (9pm, ITV) adds further twists to the tale. Joanne Frogatt’s Laura, still determined to see Andrew (Ioan Gruffudd) put away for rape, heads to Edinburgh, looking for the facts behind his first wife’s suicide. But she doesn’t get quite the reaction she’s hoping for. OVER on Sky Atlantic the big news tonight is the longawaited return of the classic US sitcom CURB YOUR

ENTHUSIASM (10pm), featuring the fantastically grumpy Larry David. It’s the ninth series (although the first since 2011), and while they’ve not made any previews available it’s fair to assume Larry will be doing his usual thing of getting crazily, hilariously worked up about something utterly trivial. I’ll be gutted if he’s not. TALKING of hilarious, WIA (10pm, BBC2) sadly isn’t any more, is it? Strange, because the gags haven’t really changed. Or maybe that’s the whole problem.
