odds on with bookies to be the next manager to lose his job.

Asked if he is still the right man for the job, the Everton boss said: “Of course we have to improve in winning games. I know that. It (future) is not in my hands, but I try to get the best out of the players.

“If there is no commitment and no aggression that is maybe a reason to think about my future, but I thank the players for their commitment today.

“I can’t complain about something from my players today, they did everything.

“Maybe we could create more, but it is not so easy against Burnley.

“You go down in the game, they are really defensive-minded, but well organised, really physical. And you need to be lucky with second balls and handballs.

“We tried everything. The commitment and spirit of the players was really positive but the final result was not.”

After spending £150m in the summer, there is huge pressure on Koeman to deliver. They are also struggling in the Europa League.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche praised his side. Despite a tough schedule, including trips to Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool and Everton, they have eight points from those games.

The Clarets have made their best start to a Premier League campaign and Dyche said: “It is a double-edged sword. You can look at it with a bit of trepidation because they are strong clubs but you can look at it with a bit of freedom because you are not expecting that much.

“The players deserve a massive amount of credit.”
