Wenger warning to Iwobi
ARSENE WENGER watched Alex Iwobi score his first goal in nine months and then demanded more of the same.
Iwobi sealed Arsenal’s fourth win in a row after Nacho Monreal had given them the lead against Brighton yesterday.
But Wenger immediately pointed the finger at him afterwards, saying he expects much more from the 21-year-old, who only scored four times last season.
The Frenchman said: “He’s the kind of player who has good availability. He helps you to get out of pressure when you are in the build-up game. He creates spaces.
“But what you want of him is final balls and goals. A player like him must score 10 goals and he must as well
give between six and 10 assists. That’s what I want of him.”
Wenger also rounded on the critics who had written his side off after their 4-0 pummelling at Liverpool.
He said: “I knew that after the game with Liverpool everybody will write us off. But it depends on how we respond. Nothing is permanent.
“You are not bad in a permanent way if you can do something about it. And you are not good in a permanent way if you don’t keep your urgency.
“We responded in a united way and put some good wins together.”
Brighton boss Chris Hughton said: “It’s always been very tough to play against the top teams. In my time, I’ve picked up some good results against the top teams and also had some bad defeats. We could have done more, but we have done okay.”
