MONSTER TSUNAMI IF HOLS VOLCANO EXPLODES
Experts warn of Canary Isle danger
A SMOKING volcano in the Canary Islands could be set to erupt, triggering a devastating tsunami with waves big enough to reach Britain and the US, experts warned last night.

EXPERTS fear a volcano in the Canary Islands is set to blow sparking a mega-tsunami which could hit Britain.
More than 50 earthquakes in just three days have shaken La Palma where scientists are worried it could signal a huge eruption on the isle’s notorious Cumbre Vieja volcano.
It could lead to the mountain slipping into the sea sending a 3,000ft wave across the Atlantic.
Parts of Britain would be engulfed and dozens of coastlines submerged.
Scientists say it could be the worst natural disaster in more than 10,000 years.
Crash
The wall of water would reach speeds of up to 500mph, smashing into Cornwall and the south coast.
By the time the killer waves crash into Africa they could still be 330ft high and 130ft when they hit New York and Boston in America.
They could even still be a mammoth 40ft high when they hit the UK, submerging large swathes of land and threatening thousands of people.
Thousands of Brits holidaying on the 86,000-population isle are unlikely to have felt the tremors as they are happening at great depth.
But worried local scientists have dubbed the “unprecedented” earthquakes of the last few days a “seismic swarm”.
They have also called in volcano experts to examine the activity.
Renowned volcanologist Bill McGuire said the mega-tsunami would be “like a huge wall of water that just keeps on coming”.
He also reckons it could affect up to 100million people.
“It’s really a worrying situation,” Prof McGuire said.
“It will almost certainly go during an eruption.”
