Hit was smash

A FLEEING hit-andrun suspect was arrested when he drove straight into a police car.

When officers went to speak to him about the earlier accident he crashed into their marked vehicle and another car.

He is said to have hit them as he attempted to escape after officers challenged him at a BP garage in Chatham, Kent.

Witnesses reported seeing up to five police cars and a van at the scene, as well as forensics officers.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: “One man was arrested at the scene and enquiries are ongoing.”
