Axe for Thorne
SNOOKER legend Willie Thorne has been axed by the BBC as a commentator at major tournaments.
Fomer Strictly star Thorne, 63, was told he was being dropped from the team for next years’s UK and world championships after more than 30 years.
He said yesterday: “I was simply told by the BBC that they wanted to change tack. I am almost speechless.”
Seven-time world champion Stephen Hendry, 48, branded the call a “bad decision” on Twitter.
The sacking comes after Thorne used the F-word in commentary at this year’s World Championships.
