Phones replace 50 devices
SMARTPHONES now save us from carrying around 50 items – including cameras, TVs and satnavs.
The popular devices replace the need for maps, credit cards, diaries and other former essentials.
The lightweight gadgets also spare people having to lug around 75lb in extra weight on the daily commutes to work and school.
And despite the soaring cost of top phones, figures suggest they can actually save about £700.
Purchasing all 50 items would set someone back £1,400, whereas simply buying an iPhone 7 costs £750.
Andrew Cartlidge, from list compiler and online retailer mobiles.co.uk, said: “It is really interesting to think about everything a smartphone can do, and have it all laid out in front of us. It definitely helps you to appreciate just how smart they are and how much they are capable of doing for us.
“We realised how much we take for granted the sheer number of inventions we can fit into our pockets, easily within reach at a moment’s notice.”
Smartphones also replace users having to carry around bulky expensive items such as televisions and stereos – thanks to TV and music apps which can be accessed almost anywhere.
Andrew added: “With new apps and features launched every day, smartphones now allow users to accomplish so much more with one gadget without the need to buy additional things.
“If only we could see into the future to know what’s next for the ever-changing world of the mobile phone.”
